1 Great Product....Many Great Uses...

One of my favorite beauty products (I am never without a bottle) is Jojoba oil.  Its amazing to use on your hair, your body and even your skin.  I'm acne prone, and Jojoba oil is the only oil I put near my fave without worrying about being covered in pimples the next day.

Here is how I use this oil for my beauty and hair routine.  I've you suffer from any sort of dryness, or brittleness in the case of your hair and nails...I'd definitely recommend you give it a try...a little goes a long way, and Amazon offers 4 oz. of Jojoba oil for under 10 bucks, so its worth giving a shot.

NOW Jojoba oil, 4 oz, Amazon.com, $8.29

HAIR SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

Jojoba oil is used by many for co-washing the hair (washing the hair in between shampoo washes with oils or conditioners only).  I actually add a tablespoon of Jojoba oil to my shampoos and conditioners and just use them as I normally would.  It definitely adds extra moisture to my strands and prepares it for heat styling should I decide to flat iron my hair.

HAIR OIL

I also just add one or two drops to my palms and run it through my wet  hair before either letting it air dry or blow drying.  I use a comb to evenly distribute it.

FACIAL CLEANSER/FACIAL MOISTURIZER

I haven't used facial soap from a pump dispenser in a while, but when I did, I always added a drop or two of Jojoba oil to the soap and mixed it in well.  Now, I continue to use the oil on my face, only now, I mix that drop or two into my AHA facial lotion, or sometimes, of my face is really dry (like right now...thanks, cold weather and Kojic Acid), I will apply straight Jojoba oil to my face with a cotton ball at night and let it sit until the morning.

BODY LOTION/BODY WASH

Again, a few drops in your normal body wash or your body lotion will add an extra dose of moisture to your skin.  I'm lucky that I usually don't suffer from severely dry skin (minus the occasional sunburn or windburn), so I don't really add it to my body wash on a regular basis.  When I am suffering from some severely dry skin, I will add a drop or two to some body wash in a travel dispenser, and in about a week, My skin is back to being healthy.  I do use it in my body lotion, and sometimes add a little extra to those areas that tend to be the driest (for me, its the elbows, knees, feet, and hands).

CUTICLE OIL

It's my go-to hand and nail moisturizer, and I use it religiously in my manicures and pedicures.

The Quest for the Best (Skin)...

I recent purchased from Amazon a new facial soap to help with some facial hyperpigmentation.  I've been using my lemon juice mask (http://ragsandgreasepaint.blogspot.com/2012/09/sourbut-sweet.html), but since I'm all about trying new products and DIY's, I bought a bar of Kojic Acid & Glutathione soap.

One websites list the benefits of this soap as:

•Cleanse deeply embedded dirt; helps remove black/white heads

•Makes skin feels soft and smooth

•Preps by exfoliating dead skin, following the use of skin lightening cream or lotion.

•Helps lighten skin pigmentation such as acne scars, age spots, underarms, inner thighs & even private parts.

•Continuous use will provide youthful glowing skin.

Well, after about two weeks of use, there are definitely both Pros and Cons.  I usually use it 2-3 times daily.  I lather up and let sit on my face for about 5-10 minutes, then rinse.

The Pros:

I have noticed some exfoliation of my skin.  It is clearer ( not a single pimple),  very smooth surface, and I definitely notice the lightening of some of my darker spots.

The Cons:

OMG, my skin is sooo dry.  Ive decided to take a week off, heavily moisturize, then go back to using the soap once daily.  My skin, within the last two or three days, has become a flaky, peeling, tight-feeling, mess.  I cannot blame the soap, I definitely went full throttle in using it, and surely overdid it.  I mean, it is acid.

I will continue to use it, just with more care, as I see my skin can be pretty sensitive to the ingredients if overdone.

Breakfast @ Tiffany's

Hair Heaven!

A few weeks ago, while getting my hair done, I found out that I have Seborrheic Dermatitis.  Finally, the itchy, dry, and flaky patches that I constantly smeared oil on had a name.

Apparently, I had been trying to go about solving the problem all wrong.  Oil overload doesn't help at all.  I was put on a routine to help knock up the problem, and I must say; so far, so good.  My hair is healthier than its been and growing faster than it has in a long time.

The Big 3.

I wash every 2-3 days with Selsun Blue.  I've been using the one with the built in scrubber beads.  After scrubbing, I let it sit on my head for about 5 minutes before rinsing.

I then apply a very thick, very moisturizing conditioner.  I have had my hair fried and dyed so many times, that it took some creative cutting to banish my split and over treated ends and leave me with any hair on my head to work with.
I have found that I love the results (and the scent) of Herbal Essences Hello Hydration.  I allow this to sit under a shower cap while I do the rest of my shower business (shave, wash face and body, etc).  I usually let it set for AT LEAST 10 minutes.

Finally...I put SheaMoisture leave-in conditioner in my hair.  I've been refraining from pulling out the flat iron.  I'm all about a "protective style", and usually just pin my hair up like this...

On those days when I want or need to be a little more sleek, I flat iron using this...

A few spritz of this leave in product on wet hair ( I use it alone and skip the SheaMoisture leave-in) works great.  I also add a small amount of Argan oil to my ends before I straighten.  In the past, I've used both coconut oil and jojoba oil, and while they are excellent, they were a bit to heavy for my hair.

I have also been taking Biotin to help promote healthy hair growth.

I take the exact same brand and dosage.  I take one every other day.  I found that with such a high amount of biotin daily, I was having some pretty gross break outs.  I find the every other day plan is effective and I don't have a face full of zits.

All Old Navy.

Around the Way Girl...

So Many Mustaches...

To simply say, "I really like mustaches" would not even come close to expressing my borderline obsession with this type of facial hair. It's odd, I know. I can't even tell you why I like any and everything with a mustache on it (handlebar 'staches tend to be my favorite, I'll pass on the Hitler 'staches, for obvious reasons).

I have more pictures of me in some form of a mustache than I care to share...

Some Mid-Week Music

Can we discuss it all?  The song, her hair, those lips, and the wardrobe?  Love it all.

Enjoy:)

Dry lip fix...

I have a reoccurring beauty problem.  My lips.  It seems that no matter the season, or what I use on them, they get dry.  Not just dry, but parched.

They get painful.  They split.  It gets impossible for my to wear my lipsticks and glosses because of the flakes (which is totally unacceptable).

After YEARS of trying everything...from Vaseline, to chap stick, to prescription ointments...I've finally found a routine that works.

Whenever my lips are giving me trouble...I pull out...

This Cocoa Butter balm is, without a doubt, the best balm I have ever used. Another positive?  one
tube is like $1.50!  I have a surplus of this stuff.  I slide some on whenever my lips feel a little dry (and pack it on before bed).

Where does the sugar come into play?  Well, once a week, I'll place a thin layer of the balm on, and use a wet finger to pick up some sugar, and I start scrubbing.  the roughness of the sugar created an awesome scrub that eliminates all those dry areas of skin.

Since I've started this, I've noticed huge difference in the condition of my lips. I haven't had to go lip gloss-free since, which I love.
