Sour...but Sweet...

I have found something amazing for my skin, and it cost me next to nothing.

What is it, you ask?

The acidic properties in lemon juice help even skin tone and slough off the top layer of skin.  It's a gentle, cheap facial peel.
Lemon juice.  Fresh lemon juice.  For the last month, about 3-4 times weekly, I have been taking a slice of lemon and rubbing it over my face (though I've read that some people must dilute the lemon juice with water to avoid redness and excessive dryness).  I take the lemon slice and rub it in a circular motion (Pleeeease avoid your eyes...I've made mistakes and it's no bueno).  Usually, I'll let it sit 20-30 minutes, then rinse.  I've heard of people leaving it on overnight, but I'm just too worried about redness for that.

Make sure you use an SPF, though, since using lemon on your skin makes it super sensitive to sunlight.

I've been using the lemon juice in conjunction with a vigorous scrubbing using...

which is by far, THE BEST exfoliating scrub I've ever used, and I prefer it to St. Ives apricot scrub.  I just feel I get a better "scrub" going, if that makes any sense.  The "scrubbers" are much finer in this Queen Helene scrub than St. Ives. To make it even better, I was 3 or 4 dollars and will last you forever.

Since I started this routine, I've noticed less breakouts, smoother skin, less oil on my forehead and nose (my slick spots), and a lightening of some hyperpigmentation on my face from some old breakouts. I'll always return to this routine...it works too well and cost too little to give it up!
